Colnago C64: completely handmade – “tailor-made,” it could be said – in Italy, with revolutionary tubes (larger, lighter, more durable), the C64 is the fruit of more than two years of research.
Yet, it was designed based on an almost immeasurable history of cycling innovation and success – one which began in 1954. The C64’s tubes and lugs are made of the finest carbon fiber, making it a unique frame in the world – one that cannot be compared to anything else. In the C64’s design lies Ernesto Colnago’s knowledge and experience, gained from a lifelong pursuit of cycling perfection.
The C64 frameset has many new features: carbon dropouts for the frame and fork, an aerodynamic seatpost with an integrated seat-clamp system,and a monocoque seat tube. All these details help bring this frame into a new dimension. Lightness, stability and resistance are pushed to their limits for an absolutely unique riding experience.
Features Fork - The C64’s monocoque, carbon fiber fork is designed to support the integrated front-brake body with mounts for housing the dual-pivot system. This braking system is stiffer, as well as more powerful and aerodynamic. The design of the fork is also integrated with the shape of the front lug, providing even more aerodynamic benefits as well as greater comfort and precise control. Bottom Bracket - The C64 uses Colnago’s ThreadFit 82.5 standard. It combines the reliability and practicality of a threaded (BSA) bottom bracket, the width and the greater rigidity of the PressFit standard. Inside the bottom bracket juncture there is an aluminum threaded sleeve in which two lightweight alloy cups are treaded into. Within these, the bearings are pressed – removable when needed. The ThreadFit82.5 standard is compatible with all PressFit 86.5 (BB86) bearings.
Carbon Rear Dropouts - The C64 uses carbon monocoque dropouts, with an internally- mounted, replaceable derailleur hanger. The advantages in terms of strength, weight and longevity are significant.
Seatpost (included) -To maximize aerodynamics and integration, they used a special seatpost for the C64. Using the proven forged aluminum head used on models currently in production, a smaller section tube (approximately 27.2mm) has been designed and constructed to provide comfort. The aerodynamic profile (also with a truncated profile – matching the seat tube) guarantees the best aerodynamic performance.
Seat Tube - Constructed from a single piece, from the base to the apex, the C64’s seat tube is lighter and, above all, more rigid so it can transmit all the power delivered by the cyclist to the road.
Brakes - The C64’s front and rear brakes are direct-mount. The main advantage of this system comes from ideal integration, both structural and aerodynamic, with the frame and fork. In terms of performance, this translates to a lightweight, rigid and more powerful system. They also offer better modulation and a superior aesthetic.
Disc Brake - Similarly to all Colnago high-end models, C64 is also available as a disc brake version. It uses the standard Shimano flat mount with 12mm axle: 100x12 the front wheel, 142x12 the rear.
Seat Clamp - The seat clamp is integrated into the top tube for a cleaner aesthetic and improved aerodynamics. The mechanism is housed completely inside the frame, easily accessible with a hexagonal wrench. This solution also protects the mechanism from dirt.
Asymmetrical chain stays - On the right side (transmission side), the frame dimensioned as big as possible, while the left side is oversized. In this way the frame is even stiffer and, thanks to the possibility of increasing the section of the tubes, lighter.
Headset -The headset’s body is made with a special polymer, composed of carbon fiber and a unique mixture of nylon and elastomers. This feature provides additional absorption of road vibration, improving both the riding experience and comfort.
Bottle Cage - The wind tunnel tests performed on the Concept and V2-r models led us to study additional aerodynamic advantages for the C64. Based on their findings, it was decided to lower the plane on the diagonal (down) tube where the bottle cage is mounted.
Fixed (mechanical) cable plates - They are made of polymer material for greater ease in assembly of the frame, better compatibility and a sensible weight savings.
Integrated bottom bracket cable-guide -It is integrated into the mold of the bottom bracket lug. This feature provides maximum compatibility, ease of assembly and added lightness. A small detail with great benefits.

Colnago Ernesto & C. S.r.l. or Colnago is a manufacturer of high-end road-racing bicycles founded by Ernesto Colnago in 1954 near Milano in Cambiago, Italy. Instead of following his family's farming business, Ernesto Colnago chose to work in the cycle trade, apprenticing first with Gloria Bicycles at 13, subsequently taking up road racing. After a bad crash ended his racing career, he began subcontracting for Gloria, opened his own shop (1954) and built his first frames the same year. Much in demand as a racing mechanic, he was second mechanic on the Nivea team Giro d'Italia under Faliero Masi in 1955, eventually being employed as head mechanic for the Molteni team of Belgian cycling legend Eddy Merckx.
The company first became known for high quality steel framed bicycles, and later as one of the more creative cycling manufacturers responsible for innovations in design and experimentation with new and diverse materials including carbon fiber, now a mainstay of modern bicycle construction.
