Team Type 1 Sanofi Colnago is a professional men’s cycling team with a difference: several of their riders live, and compete, with Type 1 diabetes.
They’re kicking off 2012 with a brand new kit and new roster, not to mention brand new Colnagos: the M10 for road racing and the Flight for time trialling.
Through racing on the international stage, Team Type 1 aims to raise awareness, change perceptions and inspire the worldwide diabetes community to properly manage diabetes and live a healthier life. They believe that “anyone with diabetes can achieve their dreams”.
As well as sponsoring this top men’s cycling team (and six other sports teams!) the Team Type 1 organisation is involved in research, international outreach and philanthropic initiatives in developing countries – all helping to change the lives of people with diabetes around the world.
Here at FRF, we were able to get a little involved ourselves with this great cause. Team Type 1 Sanofi travelled down under for the 2011 Jayco Sun Tour, taking time to visit the Sanofi Australia headquarters while they were here. Our Brand Manager David Walton was invited to present a segment on both Colnago history and the Team’s new season M10s – Colnago’s lightest carbon frame. Custom painted blue and all fitted out with Dura-ace groupsets, the bikes – and riders – are ready to race.
Team Type 1’s slogan is “Dream – Achieve – Inspire. Living with diabetes”. Their ultimate dream? Racing the Tour de France.
