“ Mercedes-Benz Style, like the Mercedes-Benz name, is synonymous with design and innovation combined with uncompromising quality. This highly exclusive bike was created with Argon 18 and reflects the exceptional standards and dynamic shapes traditionally associated with Mercedes-Benz. Elegance and comfort in cycling, a matter of design and style. ”
- Mercedes-Benz Style
This collaboration between Argon 18 and Mercedes-Benz Style is based on a minimalist approach because simplicity and clarity invariably lead to good design.
Equipped with high-end, discreet and pure components from FSA, Vision and Fabric, the Mercedes-Benz Style Silver47 is a top-end bike down to the last detail.
Optimal Balance - Optimal Balance is the design and fabrication philosophy behind all of Argon 18’s bikes. It is the subtle alchemy of lightness, rigidity, comfort and aerodynamics.
The result: a high-performance bike that is easy to ride, that handles well when climbing and is quick off the mark. What’s more, it provides the rider with a feeling of satisfaction without any unwanted fatigue. Much more than a simple idea, Optimal Balance is the result of over 25 years of research and development—expertise which reinforces Argon 18’s reputation as a world leader in high-end bikes and technology.
Integration - The cycling industry is highly competitive and rapidly growing. In this market full of innovation and integration, Argon 18 is leading the way with technological solutions that are ever more effective. Agon 18's solutions are tailored to the specific needs of cyclists—both men and women—at all levels of competition. Moreover, our constantly evolving innovations are easy to both implement and use. Evolution is the key to adaptation.
Aerodynamics - In high-performance cycling, every second counts and aerodynamics can change everything. That’s why any reduction in drag—not matter how small—is of utmost importance. By testing our bikes in true wind conditions, we ensure that all our products are infinitely more accurate and competitive.
AFS - Argon Fit System - Argon 18’s expertise in geometry is based on Gervais Rioux’s vast experience as a professional cyclist and a bike shop owner as well as extensive research and development. The Argon Fit System (AFS) is designed to provide riders of all physical dimensions with consistent performance and optimal ergonomics. No matter what your morphology or your racing style, your positioning will always be efficient and comfortable, ensuring the ultimate in handling.
Positioning and Geometry - At Argon 18, we design our bikes by breaking the frame down into eight distinct sections, each with a specific role. As the length of the frame increases so does the length of each section. This preserves the bike’s well-balanced proportions and ensures that all our frames, regardless of size, have ideal ergonomics and flawless handling.
3D System - Argon 18’s exclusive 3D System is a clever mechanical solution that extends the headtube for more positioning options. Three headtube positions are possible for every frame size; this increases rigidity by 5% at 15mm and 11% at 25mm, versus traditional spacers. With this system, the handlebar height can be perfectly adjusted to meet the needs and preferences of every rider.
HDS - Horizontal Dual System - With its Horizontal Dual System (HDS), Argon 18 has succeeded in combining rigidity and comfort, qualities that are typically seen as mutually exclusive. The basic idea is simple: our frame tubes are each designed for a specific purpose.
Fork - The new fork uses a truncated foil design that optimises airflow off the leading edge of the bike. This is balanced with the TCS (Topological Compliance System).
Downtube - The starting point for the downtube shape was the nose of a foil. They refined the design to maximise airflow between the downtube and the bottle and made adjustments that ensured aerodynamic efficiency across the entire length.
Seat Stays - For the new Kryptons they used an Asymmetric Hybrid Airfoil seat stay design or AHF profile shape. The design’s shape is compliant with their TCS and generates a low-pressure system on the inside of the seat stay blade that smooths rough air caused by the wheels motion.
Seamless Integration - An essential characteristic of the new frame designs is the new fully integrated 3DPLUS system. It delivers all the handling and stiffness benefits of the original 3D system in a streamlined package that merges seamlessly with the frame. To provide maximum height adjustability it comes with three different cap options (0 mm, 15 mm and 30 mm).
Pure and Simple - Sometimes a picture is truly worth a thousand words! Not only does the 3DPlus system provide better headtube height adjustability than most other bikes, its full integration into the frame preserves the handling qualities. This is not true for traditional headtubes stacked up with spacers.
Modular Console - Designing this bike from scratch was the perfect opportunity to develop a new cable routing system. We wanted a clean system that could integrate perfectly in the downtube, hide the Di2 junction box in the frame, and keep our frames compatible with all modern transmissions. Thus, we crafted a modular console which delivers on all three counts!
Innovative snap-in BB cable guide - Same technology used on Gallium Pro disc and Gallium Pro: light, efficient, and easy to install.
Riveted Front Derailleur Hanger - Stiff and light.
12 mm Thru-Axles - Made for us by DT-Swiss.
Optional Direct Mount Rear Derailleur Hanger - For optimal installation of Shimano’s new generation of direct mount style rear derailleurs.
Inlaid chainsuck guard and chain catcher - Why? Because, sometimes s!$# happens. Note: the chain catcher comes in two lengths to accommodate different chainring sizes.
Flat mount disc brakes - Standard version on both frames, for 140 and 160 mm rotors.
DT Swiss Type 12mm Thru-axle - Clean, simple, light and sturdy.
3D+ System - An essential characteristic of the Krypton GF frame design is the fully integrated 3D+ system. It delivers all the handling and stiffness benefits of the original 3D system in a streamlined version that merges seamlessly with the frame. It offers 3 head tube extension heights for every frame size.
TDS-C Race Monocoque Seatpost - Engineered for more compliance and comfort Reversible head for better fit adjustments.
Up To 32mm (28mm With Fenders) Tire Clearance - For maximum comfort on any road surface.
Compatible With All Road Cassettes - Including junior cassettes with a 14-28 range.
Optional Direct Mount Rear Derailleur Hanger - For optimal installation of Shimano rear derailleurs.
Flat Mount Disc Brakes For 140 Or 160mm Rotors - When using fenders, 140mm rear brake rotor is recommended.
Modular Cable Routing System - Clean, smart and efficient; compatible with all modern transmissions (mechanical, Di2, eTap and EPS).
Aerodynamics - Aerodynamically efficient frame and fork designs for better performance and riding pleasure.
Endurance Specific Fork Design - Radical shape optimized for best balance of vibration absorption and control.
Topological Compliance System - High Performance grade carbon monocoque frame and fork concept that offers exceptional vertical compliance and reacts positively to road-induced vibrations while remaining impervious to lateral movement, thus ensuring maximum pedaling efficiency for high performance.
New Endurance Geometry - They didn’t simply change the existing race geometry for this new bike, instead, they carried over key aspects and constructed something completely unique.
